After submitting a controversial plan to consolidate and close campuses that was subsequently withdrawn, the Chancellor of the Vermont State Colleges System has announced he will resign.
In a press release Tuesday, Chancellor Jeb Spaulding announced he plans to submit his resignation to the Board of Trustees during its Wednesday night meeting.
Spaulding released a controversial plan on April 17th calling for the closure of three campuses. He said the COVID-19 pandemic had strained the system’s finances to near insolvency.
The Board of Trustees is expected to name the system’s General Counsel as interim chancellor.
