Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger appointed Jennifer Morrison the city’s interim police chief in January. But she is temporarily leaving the post because her husband must undergo a stem cell transplant in Boston.
A search for a new chief began but due to the Coronavirus pandemic it was suspended for a year. Mayor Weinberger has accepted a plan in which Interim Chief Morrison will be allowed temporary unpaid time off.  “She will return to the city after taking approximately three months off this summer. In October she expects to be able to return and continue with her interim service.”

Deputy Chief John Murad will serve as Acting Chief of the Burlington Police Department while Morrison is away.
