Senior citizens will be able to pick up take-and-go meals in downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts starting Tuesday.

The Ralph J. Froio Senior Center on North Street will offer the meals between 11:30 and 12:30 Monday through Friday.

“Seniors who are enrolled in the Meals on Wheels program, this will really just be an extension of that so we don’t have to worry about our seniors who are on this program and having to worry about them go without,” said Pittsfield Director of Administrative Services Roberta McCulloch-Dews.

As part of the response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Pittsfield’s municipal offices are closed to the public through April 7th.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
