The current president of the city council in Springfield, Massachusetts will serve a second one-year term.
Springfield City Council President Justin Hurst said he’s been assured of the unanimous support of his fellow councilors to lead the city’s legislative body in 2020.
"We've got a good energy going with the council right now," said Hurst. "I think we passed some of the most comprehensive legislation in the history of Springfield and I think there is opportunity for us to do more."
Seeking a fourth term on the City Council, Hurst was the top vote-getter in the Nov. 5th election.
City Councilor Adam Gomez announced he has secured commitments from enough colleagues on the 13-member council to be voted in as vice president in January.
