Officials at a Vermont hospital have requested approval for a rate increase averaging 2.65% for the coming year.
Administrators from Rutland Regional Medical Center presented the proposed 2020 budget to the Green Mountain Care Board on Monday. The hospital was granted a 2.6% increase last year.
Hospital Chief Financial Officer Judi Fox says the increase would lead to $4 million in savings from a combination of staffing and supply reductions. Some of the reductions are already in effect.
The Rutland Herald reports that some services would cost more while the price of MRIs and CT scans would go down.
Hospital president Claudio Fort says the rate increase is necessary to keep up with rising drug and labor costs and the public shouldn't worry about the hospital's financial future.
