Pittsfield City Council Vice President and Ward 4 Councilor John Krol

After five terms and almost ten years in office, Pittsfield Ward 6 City Councilor John Krol says he will not seek re-election in the fall. After accepting a job with Benchmark Senior Living, he’ll be moving his family to Newton, Massachusetts. Krol – also the council’s Vice President – spoke with WAMC about his time in office, from his early years during the administration of Mayor James Ruberto to what he sees as the city’s major issues today.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
