A Vermont panel has released a progress report on previous recommendations on how to deal with the ongoing opioid crisis.
The Opioid Coordination Council says it has developed a community collaboration toolkit and distributed naloxone kits to the nearly 170 emergency service agencies across the state. Republican Governor Phil Scott said in a statement that the report highlights the work of the council to create a statewide system of support for addiction prevention and recovery.
Scott says the opioid crisis is "one of the most complex challenges we have faced here in Vermont and across the nation."
The Rutland Herald reports Vermont Drug Prevention Policy Director Jolinda LaClair says the progress report shows the state's efforts to follow up on the council's January recommendations.
