Robbery Suspect Shot By Vermont Police Faces Federal Charges

An unarmed robbery suspect shot by Vermont police in Brattleboro is facing federal charges.
Federal court documents say 46-year-old Mark Triolo of Lewisville, Texas, was charged with interfering in commerce. The affidavit filed Monday in federal court in Burlington also included text messages from Triolo's phone that detail an alleged string of bank robberies.

Triolo was shot Friday night in Brattleboro by local officers and a state trooper, shortly after he allegedly committed robberies in Weathersfield and Westminster. He is also suspected of a May 1 robbery in Vergennes.

All officers involved in the shooting are on leave.

Triolo's condition was unavailable Monday.

Warrants for Triolo's arrest have been issued in Texas and New York.

Court documents did not list an attorney for Triolo.
