Experts say the colder than usual winter is driving up demand for wood used to heat homes in northern New England, leaving some suppliers scrambling.
Earlier this season Ray Colton of Colton Enterprises in Vermont says he was having trouble keeping up with orders for dry wood, but he's now able to deliver immediately.

Paul Frederick of the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation says the warmer than normal winters the last two seasons may have prompted some people to not purchase as much firewood this year.

He says the cold stretch in December and early January has left some people short, but few people rely exclusively on firewood for heat.
