Burlington City Council To Again Consider Burlington Telecom Bidders

The Burlington City Council tonight will once again consider which of two bidders - Keep Burlington Telecom Local KBTL or Ting/Tucows  - will be the finalist to buy Burlington Telecom, the city’s municipally-owned cable and internet provider.
The delay occurred after one councilor recused herself citing a conflict of interest and Citibank, which under a settlement will receive part of the sale’s proceeds, told the city it would sue if the local bid — KBTL — was accepted. Following extended discussion, Council President Jane Knodell agreed that a postponement was wise.  “I think there are aspects of this decision that have not been fully explored and flushed out.”

The council meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Burlington City Hall’s Contois Auditorium.
