State police say protests against Kinder Morgan’s gas pipeline expansion into Western Massachusetts have turned more aggressive.

Kinder Morgan got permission Wednesday to turn on its Connecticut expansion pipeline, allowing natural gas to flow through New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.

Otis State Forest has been the stage of protests against the pipeline. More than 70 have been arrested since May.

Massachusetts State Police said in a statement three pipeline opponents were arrested Wednesday. State police say one man trying to escape arrest pushed a trooper and was hit with a stun gun.

The Berkshire Eagle reports protestors have been seen climbing on equipment and lying down in front of moving vehicles.
