22 More Arrested For Trespassing, Trying To Block Kinder Morgan's Pipeline

Sugar Shack Alliance

Massachusetts State Police arrested another 22 people for trespassing in Otis State Forest this weekend. The demonstrators are trying to block Kinder Morgan’s Connecticut pipeline expansion.

22 Sugar Shack Alliance members were arrested for blocking access roads and trespassing too close to tree felling equipment in Otis State Forest. The group has been trying for months to stop Kinder Morgan from laying down pipe to expand its natural gas pipeline into Western Massachusetts.

They will be arraigned Thursday in Southern Berkshire District Court.

The Alliance says 56 activists have now been arrested – some of whom have been ordered to pay a $100 fine.

Protestors say the state park is meant for picnics, not pipelines.
