Two more samples of mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus have been found in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Seven have come back positive this year.
The state Department of Public Health confirmed Friday the presence of West Nile virus in two more samples collected by the Berkshire County Mosquito Control Project.
West Nile was also found in Richmond in early July.
A truck-mounted spray application is scheduled for Tuesday evening on all roads within a one-mile radius of the Elm and Williams Street intersection.
Since 2011, there have been 58 cases of West Nile in mosquitoes and one human case in Berkshire County. Last year, there were fewer mosquitoes due to a statewide drought. Out of the 136 samples collected in 2016, one contained the West Nile virus.
