The Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School has received a grant from Harvard to collaborate and share data with traditional public schools in northern Berkshire County.
BART Executive Director Jay White says the goal of the collaboration – with Cheshire, Adams and North Adams schools – is to share the charter school’s data-based approach to better track student performance and outcomes.
“To try and understand how to understand all of the assessment data that are out there,” White says. “You know, schools are literally, in some cases, drowning in data.”
BART received a $244,000 grant from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and its Data Wise project to share its practices with North Adams Public Schools and the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District.
White says all of the schools can benefit because many of the region’s students come from similar backgrounds.
UPDATED Thursday, August 3, 2017: BART received a $244,000 grant from the Massachusetts Dissemination Program. It was one of seven recipients statewide. BART has been a partner of Harvard for a decade.
