More than 1,200 amendments have been filed to the Massachusetts state budget proposed by House leaders.
The majority of amendments to the $40.3 billion budget proposal are attempts by legislators to earmark funds for local programs and projects.
Debate on the budget by the full House is scheduled to begin on April 24th.
State Rep. Stephen Kulik, who is vice-chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee said a timeline is being followed to put a budget on Gov. Charlie Baker’s desk by the end of June.
" We are on track to do that. We think it is important that our budget be done on time," Kulik said.
The House budget is slightly lower than what Baker proposed in January. It calls for no broad based tax increases.
