The Hoosic River Revival has been awarded two grants for its South Branch Restoration Project in North Adams, Massachusetts.

The Hoosic River Revival wants to keep the City of North Adams safe from the river’s flooding. But it says the Hoosic River’s South Branch can be a viable, year-round area for recreational, environmental and economic opportunities.

The first grant was from the outdoor clothing store, Patagonia, for $8,000. It will be used to fund soil testing for contaminants at Noel Field.

The second was from the Berkshire Environmental Endowment Fund for a $2,500 community art project. The Hoosic River Revival matched the grant to install an art project that it says will boost environmental awareness in the community.
