A non-profit group that works with homeless people in Vermont's largest city has a new location where adults can drop in during the day to receive a variety of services.
The Committee on Temporary Shelter on Burlington's North Avenue marked the opening of its newly renovated building on Monday.

The building includes 14 subsidized housing units on the second floor.

The previous home for the day station was destroyed by a flood in 2012. COTS purchased the new location from Burlington College in 2010.

COTS Executive Director Rita Markley says the new location brings together in one location every level of care, including affordable housing, the largest homeless prevention initiative in Vermont and the Daystation, which offers a safe warm refuge for those with no other place to go.
