A western Massachusetts city marked National Consumer Protection Week by shutting down a Springfield automobile dealership that had been the subject of complaints.
Millie Johnson, Director of the Mayor’s Office of Consumer Affairs, said year after year the top complaint her office gets is about auto sales.
" The consumer has protection under the Massachusetts Lemon Law, or the Massachusetts used vehicle warranty law, and we usually get a very very good result," said Johnson.
The Springfield Police Department Thursday ordered Baystate Auto Sales to close after the city’s law department found the Berkshire Ave. business did not have proper licenses to repair or sell vehicles.
