A record number of people have signed up for health insurance through the Massachusetts Health Connector during the open enrollment period.
The Baker administration announced Monday that enrollment for insurance coverage through the state’s online marketplace stands at over 246,000 people, the most since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act,
Health Connector Executive Director Louis Gutierrez, during a stop in Springfield to promote the open enrollment period, vowed Massachusetts would continue its commitment to providing access to affordable health insurance no matter what becomes of Obamacare.
"We were here before the Affordable Care Act and I plan to be here after the Affordable Care Act, said Gutierrez.
The number of newly insured people enrolled through the Health Connector increased by 50 percent after an outreach campaign in communities with high rates of uninsured residents.
