Massachusetts farmers are national leaders in direct sales to consumers, according to data from the first extensive national survey of local food sales.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture conducted the special study, as directed by the 2014 Farm Bill.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Winton Pitcoff, director of the Massachusetts Food System Collaborative.
