Massachusetts State Senator Ben Downing

After a decade in office, Massachusetts State Senator Ben Downing is retiring. The Democrat has represented the Berkshire, Hampshire, Franklin and Hampden District since he was just 25 years old. Downing spoke with WAMC about what’s on his mind as he leaves office.

Downing is joining the solar energy firm Nexamp as vice president of new market development.

Democrat Adam Hinds was elected in November to take over Downing’s seat.

Jim was WAMC’s Assistant News Director and hosted WAMC's flagship news programs: Midday Magazine, Northeast Report and Northeast Report Late Edition.
