Retiring Massachusetts State Senator Ben Downing will go to work for a solar energy firm after leaving the State House.

It was announced today that the Democrat will become vice president of new market development for Nexamp. The Pittsfield Democrat spent a decade representing western Massachusetts and chairs the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy.

Downing announced in January that he planned to retire at the end of the current legislative session.
