State and local officials participated in a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for a manufacturing expansion project in western Massachusetts.
Automobile parts manufacturer U.S. Tsubaki is constructing a 100,000 square foot addition to its plant in Chicopee.
The $12 million expansion will add a new production line that will require 35 new workers.
Jay Ash, the Baker administration’s top economic official, said manufacturing is seeing a revival in Massachusetts.
"There was a time where manufacturing was not looked upon with the same desire as it is now," said Ash.
State and local tax incentives totaling more than $750,000 were approved for the U.S. Tsubaki expansion in Chicopee.
The Japanese-headquartered company had looked at other sites in Tennessee and Mexico for the new production line.
