The Vermont State Police says it's the first state police agency to join the White House Police Data Initiative.
The initiative is aimed at improving the relationship between citizens and police through uses of data that increase transparency, build community trust and strengthen accountability.

Vermont officials say 129 individual law enforcement agencies have joined the effort.

The Vermont State Police says this past summer it became the first state police agency to join the effort.

The state police and Department of Public Safety have developed five data sets that will be available on the White House Police Data Initiative website. There will be data on traffic stops; traffic fatalities and seatbelt use; DUI arrests; DUI arrests with crashes; and officer involved shootings for particular time periods.
