The town of Bennington Vermont is planning a construction project that will connect some customers with wells contaminated by chemicals to town water.
The $115,000 project would allow 15 to 20 customers with PFOA-contaminated wells to connect to the water mains that were replaced during a five-year project completed in 2014.
Town Manager Stuart Hurd told The Rutland Herald a small water main extension will be added along one street to connect the three homes.
The state has been investigating the presence of PFOA, or perfluorooctanoic acid, which has been detected in more than 250 private wells around Bennington.
The project paid for by either the state or Saint-Gobain is expected to be completed by December.
