Chicopee Man Allegedly Shoots, Kills Teen Who Knocked On His Door

Hampden District Attorney's Office

A homeowner accused of shooting and killing a 15-year-old boy who knocked on his door over the weekend is being held without bail following his arraignment in a western Massachusetts court.

Jeffrey Lovell, 42, was arraigned in Chicopee District Court Monday on a murder charge.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni said Dylan Francisco of Springfield was fatally shot Saturday after he and a friend, who had been drinking, went to Lovell’s house, mistakenly believing it was where another friend lived.

Gulluni said the teenager was not attempting to break into the house when Lovell allegedly shot him.

" It is clear ( Lovell) aimed at this person through the glass in the door. So, we think that murder charges are warranted and that is what we have initiated," Gulluni said Monday in an interview.

Francisco was shot in the abdomen.

Lovell  had a license for the gun.
