Pittsfield Police are investigating three shootings over less than 24 hours. Police have already made one arrest.Police responded to reports of shots fired at the corner of Wahconah St. and Pecks Rd. around 1:30 Thursday afternoon. After a brief chase, police arrested a 34-year-old man and charged him with carrying a firearm without a license and other offenses. A nearby school delayed dismissal of walking students. A man suffered non-life threatening injuries Wednesday night after being shot near Second and Pond Streets. Ninety minutes later, no injuries were reported after shots were fired on Dartmouth Street.

Mayor Linda Tyer says every resource is being deployed and advance planning is taking place to counter the violence. The Democrat has said the police force is understaffed and underequipped.
