The Baker administration has announced tax breaks for two businesses to expand in western Massachusetts and create new jobs.
An auto parts manufacturer, U.S. Tsubaki, has been approved for $525, 000 in tax credits to add 100,000 square feet of production, warehouse, and office space in Chicopee. The company will hire 35 new employees, while keeping 348 current jobs.
Aegis Energy Services of Holyoke, which plans to redevelop the former Parson’s Paper mill, was approved for $300,000 in tax credits. Mayor Alex Morse said there will also be a ten-year, 100 percent property tax abatement.
"In order to make it work for Aegis Energy and the city we had to amass different sources of funding, " said Morse.
Aegis will create 30 new jobs and retain 59 employees.
