A former Central Connecticut State University student who was expelled after equipping a drone with a gun has filed a lawsuit seeking reinstatement to the school.Austin Haughwout argues in a lawsuit filed this week in New Britain Superior Court that his October expulsion was the result of controversy over a video he posted to the Internet in July of the weaponized drone. He later posted a video of a drone equipped with a flamethrower.
Haughwout also says school officials deliberately misrepresented joking remarks he made about shooting up the school.
The lawsuit seeks his reinstatement and unspecified monetary damages.
Janice Palmer, a school spokeswoman, says the university does not comment on pending legal cases.
State lawmakers are considering legislation that would outlaw weaponized drones.
