Chittenden Solid Waste District Gets Hazardous Waste Grant

U.S. Army Environmental Command

The Chittenden Solid Waste District will use a $72,650 grant to help provide facilities and education for the proper disposal of hazardous waste from homes and qualifying businesses.
The grant to the Williston-based group from the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation is part of a solid waste assistance fund that helps towns and solid waste planning groups implement their solid waste plans.

The Chittenden waste district will use the grant to help fund its hazardous waste collection program.

The district's Jen Holliday says the program costs more than $500,000 and it manages more than 600,000 pounds of waste each year. She says the grant will help meet those costs.
