Vermont Police Officer Denies DUI Charge, Resigns

Authorities say a Vermont police officer has resigned amid allegations he drove drunk and crashed his car.Police say Williston police officer Schuyler Provetto's blood alcohol level was 0.15 percent,  nearly twice the legal limit, when his pickup truck rolled over on a curve in Morristown on the night of Sept. 22.

The Burlington Free Press reports police chief Todd Shepard said the Richmond man submitted his resignation earlier this week. He had been on paid administrative leave since the crash.

Provetto was arraigned Wednesday and denied a DUI charge. An attempt to reach his lawyer was unsuccessful.
