Top officials from MGM Resorts International will be heading to Springfield, Massachusetts this week to meet with the mayor to discuss changes to the casino project.
Mayor Domenic Sarno said he won’t be treated like a second class city by MGM officials, with whom he had enjoyed a close relationship.
Sarno was blindsided last week by a proposal to reduce the scope of the casino project by 14 percent.
" Crickets started to form," Sarno said Tuesday. " Communication is the key here."
MGM’’s chairman and its president are expected to reaffirm the company’s commitment to the Springfield project.
MGM is planning to make a presentation fully explaining the proposed changes in the $800 million project to city officials and the Massachusetts Gaming Commission during the week of Nov. 16th.
