State Police Warn Slow Down On Vermont's Highways

Vermont State Police say they have caught at least six drivers in three weeks for speeding in excess of 100 mph along the state's highways.

Lt. Garry Scott, head of the Traffic Safety Division, is concerned about the problem of reckless driving in Vermont.

Scott told the Burlington Free Press that four of the cases involved relatively new or inexperienced drivers. The deadliest age group for motorists is 25 years old and younger.

Vermont Transportation Agency officials say the state has had 33 highway deaths in 2015, 10 of which occurred in July.

State Trooper Rich Slusser, who arrested three drivers speeding over 100 mph, says most had no excuse for speeding.

Police say four of the cases occurred during commuting hours.
