Shakespeare In The Park Opens 2nd Season In New Pittsfield Venue

Enrico Spada, founder and artistic director of Pittsfield's Shakespeare in the Park, announces Romeo And Juliet as this summer's production to be shown at the First Street Common.

The second season of Pittsfield’s Shakespeare In the Park starts Thursday at a newly renovated downtown site. The 8 o’clock performance coincides with Pittsfield’s 3rd Thursday arts-themed street festival.Nineteen local actors ranging in age from 12 to 82 will perform Romeo and Juliet at the recently renovated First Street Common in Pittsfield. Artistic Director and founder Enrico Spada says 1,500 people turned out for last year’s performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Springside Park.

“The First Street Common…there’s a new performance pavilion there that we’re really excited to be presented the show at,” Spada said. “We’re also really excited that this year we’re going to extend our run from eight performances over two weekends to 12 performances over three weekends.”

The free Thursday through Sunday performances end August 2nd.
