'Soak Up The Sun' Sheryl Crow Kicks Off Tanglewood Season

Sheryl Crow kicks off the Tanglewood season Friday night.

The 75th anniversary of the Tanglewood Music Center gets started Friday night with a performance of the Boston Pops and country rock singer Sheryl Crow.Nine-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow joins the Boston Pops for an 8:30 show Friday night. Other popular artists heading to Lenox this season are Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga and Idina Menzel. The Boston Symphony Orchestra’s managing director Mark Volpe says it will be a big summer for music director Andris Nelsons.

“All the Beethoven and Mozart you’d ever want,” Volpe said. “Some big programs with Mahler symphonies. Andris [Nelson] is doing two big Mahler symphonies…one we are taking all over Europe and one he is doing to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Tanglewood Music Center.”

The season runs until August 23rd.
