Vermont Shelter Looks For New Home After Losing Location

Brattleboro Area Drop In Center

A Vermont shelter is looking for a new home following the loss of its main location.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports that the Brattleboro Area Drop-in Center's winter overflow shelter learned this past season that it will no longer be hosted by the First Baptist Church.

The church has been facing serious financial challenges — leading the board to put the building up for sale. It has hosted the shelter since 2007.

The drop-in center and Morningside Shelter announced that they plan to form a new organization in the next few weeks called Groundworks Collaborative.

The South Main Street facility will be known as the Groundwork's Drop in Center and the employees and volunteers are in talks with other faith groups about using their buildings.
