The postman who flew his gyrocopter onto the lawn of the U.S. Capitol in hopes of raising awareness of campaign finance reform got his point across to at least one member of Congress. So far much of the reaction to the incident has been over security in Washington, D.C. but Democratic Congressman Paul Tonko of New York says the postman turned pilot was carrying a very important message.

“Wealth happens to be buying seats in Congress,” Tonko said. “Then we come up with those seats advancing a wealth-related agenda. We need to speak to the needs of the many of us and we do that I think by sound campaign finance reform.”

Tonko was inside the Capitol Visitor Center when the gyrocopter landed. When asked about the incident, Massachusetts Congressman Richard Neal says the pilot broke the law and the case ought to be treated as such.
