A Pittsfield city councilor who has been known to butt heads with Mayor Dan Bianchi will not seek reelection this year.Councilor-at-Large Barry Clairmont has been outspoken about fiscal and procedural issues involving Mayor Dan Bianchi over his two terms on the Pittsfield City Council. The accountant says he’s been finding it harder to commit time to council work as his business has grown.
“I’ve enjoyed it,” Clairmont said. “I know sometimes people don’t agree with me and the mayor and I have tended to butt heads on a number of occasions, but overall I’ve enjoyed my experience.”
Clairmont says he will not run for mayor this year, but isn’t ruling out a future bid.
