Trooper Under DUI Investigation Identified

A Vermont state trooper is under investigation on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Assistant Attorney General John Treadwell confirmed Thursday that trooper Eric Rademacher of the Rutland barracks is being investigated.

The state says Rademacher was placed on paid leave on Monday.

Vermont State Police Director Colonel Tom L'Esperance said the case will be fully investigated by the Vermont State Police and the Vermont Attorney General's office. He says all Vermont State troopers "are expected to abide by the laws of this state, and are held to a higher standard than the public in the way that they conduct themselves."

Treadwell told the Burlington Free Press that he has asked the Vermont State Police to conduct some follow-up investigating.
