Massachusetts Governor: Stay Off Roads

Gov. Charlie Baker is again urging people to stay off the roads even though heavy snow bands over the eastern part of the state will be ending.

With high winds and cold temperatures, he said, "It's going to be a very bad day to be on the road."

He said Sunday morning's high tide was not as severe as expected, with no reports of major flooding. He warned that winds gusting over 60 mph could bring power outages, which officials said have remained under 1,000 early in the day.

Baker asked people to be patient and allow plow crews to work.

A blizzard warning remains in effect until Monday morning because of blowing snow.

Snowfall totals Sunday morning were around a foot across eastern Massachusetts areas, and 20 inches in the northeast at Ipswich.
