New England Utility Exec Named To Vermont PSB

A woman who worked for Vermont's Department of Public Service for 17 years is going to become the next member of the utility-regulating Public Service Board.

The appointment of Sarah Hofmann was announced Monday by Governor Peter Shumlin.

Hofmann is currently the executive director of the New England Conference of Public Utilities Commissioners. She will replace retiring board member John Burke.

Hofmann is a former deputy commissioner and public advocate at the Department of Public Service, which represents consumers before the board.

Shumlin says Hofmann will bring a combination of accessibility, warmth and deep policy expertise to the board.

Hofmann says she's grateful for the opportunity to shape the regulatory landscape.

She'll join the board in March.
