Six Massachusetts hospitals have agreed to treat Ebola patients should there be any in the state.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Friday said Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and five large Boston hospitals have reviewed their operations and are prepared to handle an Ebola patient. Earlier, Gov. Deval Patrick said it was not necessary to designate a primary Ebola treatment center.
"The risks are so low in the Commonwealth and the capabilities of our hospital emergency rooms are so high we do not have to cross that bridge yet," Patrick said Wednesday.
No cases of Ebola have occurred in Massachusetts.
