Sec. Of Commonwealth Candidates To Debate

http://www.sec.state.ma.us/

The three candidates for Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth will debate this afternoon in Malden. It comes after the Republican and Green-Rainbow Party candidates repeatedly called on the incumbent Democrat to publicly debate. After joining with Republican Dave D’Arcangelo to send letters to Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin calling for a debate, Green-Rainbow Party candidate Danny Factor says he learned of Monday’s debate Friday afternoon, but was unsure if it would actually happen.

“This has been the least transparent way to do a debate possible,” Factor said Monday morning. “The fact that I’m in the dark…I’m embarrassed really. I’m embarrassed for the system.”

Galvin, a Democrat, has held the office since 1995. The debate is scheduled for 12:45 at Malden High School.
