The Republican candidate running for Massachusetts treasurer recently campaigned in Pittsfield.Mike Heffernan is touting his two decades working in Citigroup’s markets and banking divisions and experience as co-founder of mobile-IT firm Mobiquity in the race for treasurer.

“There is a real feeling for a change in leadership out there,” Heffernan said. “So it’s not really Democrats and Republicans, it’s a real chance to have a change in leadership and bring real, extensive private sector experience into the executive branch. I think that’s what people really want.”

Heffernan did not face a primary challenger heading into November’s race against Democrat Deb Goldberg and Green-Rainbow Party candidate Ian Jackson. Treasurer Steve Grossman lost to Attorney General Martha Coakley in the Democratic Primary for governor.
