A vigil for victims of addiction is being held tonight in North Adams, Massachusetts amid growing concerns of an opioid epidemic across the country. For the second straight year, the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition is taking part in the eight annual Candlelight Vigil of Healing, Remembrance and Recovery. Coordinated through the Florida-based NOPE or Narcotics Overdose Prevention & Education more than 40 vigils will be held across the country on October 23rd. Prevention services director Lois Daunis says the coalition is holding it earlier while the weather is still warm.

“When the people in recovery talk, you can clearly see that even though this is a tough illness there is a path to recovery for those who choose to take it,” said Daunis.

The vigil starts at 7 at Noel Field in North Adams.
