Former WTF Director Leaving Post With NYC-Based Company

John Dolan

The former director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival is stepping down from a position she took eight months ago with a New York City-based company.

Jenny Gersten has announced she will step down as executive director of Friends of the High Line at the end of this month. Gersten was artistic director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival from 2010 until leaving for the Manhattan-based company earlier this year.

Gersten programmed this past summer’s lineup at Williamstown, which drew 35,000 people over seven weeks; the highest number in four years despite having one fewer production.

In a letter, Gersten says she enjoyed her time at the High Line, but wishes to return to full-time work in the arts and programming.

As previously announced, Mandy Greenfield is taking over as artistic director at Williamstown.

Jim was WAMC’s Assistant News Director and hosted WAMC's flagship news programs: Midday Magazine, Northeast Report and Northeast Report Late Edition.
