The president of Vermont's Johnson State College is planning to retire.

Johnson State announced Monday that President Barbara Murphy will retire on June 30, 2015.

Murphy has served as president of Johnson State for the last 14 years. Before taking over at Johnson in 2001 she had served as president of the Community College of Vermont.

Johnson state is one of the five schools in the Vermont State College system.

Vermont State Colleges Chancellor Timothy Donovan says Murphy's retirement will be a loss to Johnson State and the state college system.

During Murphy's time at Johnson, the school has had a 70-percent increase in enrollment in the college's bachelor's-degree-completion program.
