Vermont, NH And Maine Dig Out After Latest Storm

WAMC/Pat Bradley

The National Weather Service says the late-season snowstorm is one of the top five largest March storms to hit the Vermont city of Burlington.

The storm ranks as 12th largest snowstorm overall recorded in Burlington. The rankings come from total snow from a single storm.

Burlington recorded 18.6 inches, with snow still falling. Sharon, Vermont reported 26 inches.

Snow piled up across New England accumulating to two feet in some areas.

Vermont Transportation Agency Dispatcher Larry Dodge says slick, ice-covered roads across the state were caused by warm pavement when the storm began.

Orford, N.H., reported 14.4 inches. The southern half of the state received far less.
