An event Sunday, March 2 at the Mahaiwe Theater in Great Barrington, Massachusetts aims to inform area residents about solar power.

Malcom Fick is the solar coach for Great Barrington. He says nearly 300 people from Great Barrington and Egremont have signed up for solar assessments with the selected installer, RGS Energy.

“This is the company that goes out and does the assessments,” Fick said. “They will be communicating to the people whether they would or would not benefit from solar and what the cost would be.”

The towns were two of 15 named in the second round of the state’s Solarize Mass program in December. Nine communities including Lee, Williamstown and Northampton signed on in the first round. The event starts at 11 a.m.
