Vermont lawmakers are considering tax increases for rooms, meals, liquor, wine and rental vehicles as part of a funding package that would be used to help clean up Lake Champlain.
The potential sources of money are on the table for funding a water quality bill that includes new regulations to control storm-water runoff blamed for polluting the lake.
Jim McCullough, vice chairman of the House Committee on Fish, Wildlife and Water Resources, said Thursday anything being discussed could be changed.
The bill being considered would regulate how much polluted storm water runoff reaches Lake Champlain.
Earlier this month officials with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency asked state officials develop specific plans to clean up the lake.
A 2013 report estimated the cleanup cost at about $155 million.
